Course Terms & Conditions of ABC – Absolute Beginners Cookery - (Here-on in known as ABC)

This form represents your confirmation for your forthcoming course. Please read the details carefully and sign below to confirm your acceptance of these conditions. The signed copy should be returned to ABC at the address above.

Bookings – All bookings will be regarded as provisional until full payment has been received and monies cleared at least 4 weeks in advance of course commencement. Provisional bookings will be held up to 4 weeks prior to commencement of the course, after which any provisional booking will be released.

Payments – All fees are payable in full in advance. Payments can be made by cash, cheque or PayPal, with all cheques being cleared before commencement of course.

Cancellations – Fees will be refundable, subject to deduction of a 25% deposit, if written notice of cancellation is received at any time prior to 4 weeks before the start of the course. If attendee terminates during the course they are not entitled to the return of any proportion of the fees.


Failure to attend courses – Failure to attend courses due to personal reasons, illness, death in family, important commitments, must be discussed 24hours prior to the course commencing. Any missed dates may be accommodated at the end of the course at the discretion of the proprietor, if there is availability.

Fees and dates - Fees and dates are correct as at the time of going to press. ABC, reserves the right to amend times, course content, running order, or under unavoidable circumstances, cancel a course. In such circumstances the attendee will be notified immediately.

Times – All attendees must arrive promptly and be ready to start the course 5 minutes before booked time. The sessions will last approximately 2.5 to 3 hours long. This will include cleaning as you go and a clear down at the end of the session.

Health and Safety – ABC operates a no smoking policy within the home address and the external vicinity of the property at Golding.

Attire – Although courses are offered within a home environment, appropriate clothing must be worn; aprons can be provided for a small fee, if you do not have one. Low-heeled or flat shoes must be worn and long hair must be tied back.

Property - Any personal items belonging to attendees are brought into the property at the owner’s own risk and the proprietors accept no responsibility for any loss or damage to the property of the attendee, nor do they accept any liability for any personal injury caused to any attendees.

Parking – All vehicles are to be parked in the Visitors Carpark, before entering the Courtyard at Golding. All vehicles are left at the owner’s own risk. The proprietors will not be held responsible for any loss or damage caused to attendees’ vehicles.

Standards and respectfulness – Attendees are expected to conduct themselves in accordance with the highest standards during their course and the proprietors reserve the right to order any attendee to leave without reimbursement of fees, if the attendee does not observe such standards and any regulations of ABC, or is guilty of unreasonable or improper conduct.

Food and drink - all items made during the course remain the ownership of ABC, unless offered by the proprietor to the attendee. This includes tasting and consuming goods whilst undertaking courses.

Allergies – If the attendee has any allergies that are relevant to the course, the attendee must notify ABC on the booking form.

Health - If the attendee has any medical conditions which ABC need to be aware of, e.g. diabetes or asthma, details need to be noted on the booking form.

Loss or damage – The attendee shall be required to pay for any loss or damage to any part of the premises, or any fixtures, fittings and equipment caused by the attendee.

‘Force Majeure’ - The proprietors shall not be held responsible for any failure to provide facilities contracted for, in event of it being prevented from doing so as a result of ‘Force Majeure’ for any cases beyond its control.

Completion of course – On completion of course, a folder will be given to each attendee comprising of all recipes covered and course notes as appropriate. Notes may be taken during the course by attendees.

Cancellations – Fees will be refundable, subject to deduction of a 25% deposit, if written notice of cancellation is received at any time prior to 4 weeks before the function / event. If the function / event is cancelled during the 4 weeks prior to the function / event; there will be no refund.

Fees and dates - Fees and arrangements are correct as at the time of booking. Any proposed changes to numbers or arrangements after this time are to be communicated to the proprietor, who reserves the right whether to accept. Any additional charges incurred must be paid immediately.

Times – All functions / events must arrive promptly and be ready to start as per the agreed timing set out in the function meeting, prior to the event.  This will include the clear down at the end of the session.

Food and drink - all items made for the event remains the property of ABC, unless offered by the proprietor to the organiser. 

Allergies – If the guests have any allergies that are relevant to the menu, the organiser must notify ABC on the booking form.

Health - If the guest/s has any medical conditions which ABC need to be aware of, e.g. diabetes or asthma, details need to be noted on the booking form.

Loss or damage – The organiser shall be required to pay for any loss or damage to any part of the premises, or any fixtures, fittings and equipment caused by the attendees.

‘Force Majeure’ - The proprietors shall not be held responsible for any failure to provide facilities contracted for, in event of it being prevented from doing so as a result of ‘Force Majeure’ for any cases beyond its control.

Completion of function / event – On completion of function / event, a complete clear-down will occur, unless otherwise directed by the organiser.

Your gift can be used as part or full payment for any of the courses offered by ABC, Basic, Specialised or Seasonal; depending on the value purchased.


The bearer can choose which course, session times and dates to suit their own busy diaries.

Unfortunately, the vouchers are only valid for 6 months, from the date of purchase, subject to the proprietor’s discretion.

All Christmas vouchers will be valid from 25thDecember.
